It all started with a trip to Africa and a young, ambitious bottler. John, wildlife enthusiast and the co-founder of Young Spirits, fell in love with African elephants during his first of many summer holidays in the Kenyan sun. That’s where his childhood adventures searching for his favourite animals turned into a passion for conservation and, eventually, a passion project named Uhuru.
Created and bottled by the Young Spirits team, Uhuru means ‘freedom’ in Swahili, and it’s a feeling we take as seriously as our cocktails. It’s how we make thoughtfully created spirits that support vital African wildlife conservation, and it’s what inspires us to try something new as often as we get the chance.
The perfect pairing for our passion project, Tusk’s mission is to advance conservation across Africa. We’re proud to be the official spirits partner that helps them accomplish that goal.
Paul Petroianu describes himself as a “creative human being, painter, and tattooer.” To us, he’s also a great friend — and the artist behind our distinctive bottle illustrations.
Threebrand is our award-winning design partner, and they continually support our brand with their extensive experience in the drinks sector.
When we’re not busy bottling behind the scenes for Young Spirits, our team works to raise awareness about the human impact on endangered species and support the vital conservation efforts that help protect them. It’s a tall order, and it’s what we pour ourselves into doing — each and every day.
